Firda fys-med – a neck injury rehabilitation centre

Firda fysikalsk-medisinsk Senter, in Sandane, Sogn & Fjordane, is a neck-injury rehabilitation centre for patients from all parts of the country. Their condition can be either chronic or acute.

Start the video below that will give you a short introduction to the use of our objectivised computer-steered testing machine in the case of neck injury, known as the Multi-Cervical Unit (MCU). The machine will show loss of muscle functioning and also which type and extent of loss. It stores the exact positioning and will present a profile for each individual patient to be used in further training.

The rehabilitation process itself is divided into periods and our approach is interdisciplinary, our staff having competence in various medical fields.

We emphasize particularly training for specific and general stability in the neck and back.

We alternate between individual and group training, always with guidance from qualified staff. Therapist and instructor co-operate throughout the process of determining and supervising the rehabilitation programme suitable for each individual patient. Each rehabilitation period lasts for 14 days. How long ago the injury occurred and also the extent of the injury will be determining factors with regard to the number of periods necessary.

Our goal is rehabilitation back to normal functioning and, for many, back to a daily working life.

Firda fys-med, yet another step nearer Europe and the world!

After purchasing a new MCU machine, Firda fys-med has been on a course in Baltimore from 23rd – 28th May this year. Therapists Bertel Rune Kaale, Morten Leirgul and Arne Nesgård took part in a 2-day workshop held at BTE technologies. The workshop was led by The International Sales Manager Waldo G. Vazquez, and The PT and Director of Clinical Integration, Kenneth B. Johnson, PT.
